weather finally let up, and i'm taking my summer car out of the garage for a drive!! before we get snow for the xmas! man i missed driving her, even if it's been only a week or two..

i don't know how i'm going to last all winter without taking her out for a spin. i really hate the decision to put on new tires on the winter car, rather then getting snows, but all in the name of winter preservation right? hope i don't end up with flat spots on the tires..

What is your summer car, is that your 330zhp? If so, are you just protecting it or is it not as good in the snow as others you have?

I was surprised at how well mine is in the rain. I was concerned with RWD but from what I have experienced it is great in rain but I have never driven it, or anything for that matter in the last few years, in the snow.

If your really going to tuck it away for the winter, invest in some jack stands and save your tires.... or take it for weekly drives around the block.

it's one of those things, i was really close to spending over a grand on a winter tire/wheel set, but it didnt' work out. and my old car was a 95 eagle talon w/ bald tires, so i decided to save some money and just get slap on a new set of all seasons on the talon to drive in the winter. and so it can function as an emergency car for the family during other seasons.

i plan on taking it out of the garage once every week or two, weather permitting to start the car, and roll the tires to prevent flat spots.

the stock tires have been pretty good so far in the rain, but then i didn't really get a chance to push it around. i don't have the pilots, and the re040s aren't that great in rain :( not to mention horrible in snow/ ice. (there was a little patch of ice on my drive way, and the traction ctrl was going crazy trying to pull me up the drive way.)

it gets hard to wash the car in the winter, esp when the weather is gloomy for weeks on end. nothing like washing a car, just to meet a flurry of snow that stops in an hour.. :( but if this keeps up, i think i might drop the money for winters next year. what good is a car, if it's just gonna sit on its ass on the garage? not like i have an exotic in there or soemthing.. and even then!!

I slapped some Michelin Artic Alpins on mine for right around $500 at Discount Tire. I used the stock 16's, cashed in the stock tires for $100, and will buy a summer tire/wheel package in the spring. Little cash now, lot more in the spring..
