I did it. I sold my beautiful, amazing Interlagos M3. Expecting a baby, and didn't want to have to deal with selling/trading a model that had been discontinued after the new year. As much as I tried to get the car seat(s) and strollers in the M3 (test runs)...it was just so impractical. Test drove and loved the 2006 530i and 550i, but couldn't justify 10k more for the 550i, and they both felt too big, and a little bloated. I will say that BMW did some very nice material upgrades though.

I got a 2006 330i (these are really hard to find here in SoCal). It is Sparking Graphite Metallic with Black Dakota Leather. It has:

Premium Pkg
Sports Pkg
Steptronic 6 speed transmission
Adaptive Xenons
Satellite Radio
Logic 7 Sound

I was so wrong about the E90...it is really awesome, and drives amazing. It is actually nicer inside than the 5 Series, surprisingly!! It handles like a coupe, and is bank valut solid and quiet. I will always keep a special place in my heart for my E46 M3, and am thankful and grateful that I was able to own one for almost a year [bigcry] [:)]

Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [bigcry] It's so sad that stunning M3 is gone! I'm shattered mate!

Oh well, I must admit that your new motor looks very nice indeed, and I guess the wife is more important than the M3.....maybe [rolleyes] lol

But yes, the E90 does look pretty mean with the sport package. I'm sure it'll be awesome to drive once it's been run-in. And, in any case, by the time the kid is 5 you can tell your wife that it's time to upgrade to an E90 M3 [hihi]

Keep us updated on how life is with the 330i [thumb]

Thanks Dan & Emile. Yeah, I told myself...in 10/15 years I can get a new M3, or what I have always dreamed of.....a Porsche 911. Kids ruin everything [:)] Nah, I can't wait to be a dad. I keep telling myself I'll be that cool dad with cool cars and tattoos!!!

As much as I loved the M3, this 330i is really quick, and takes turns "almost" as well...especially being a sedan. I am pretty impressed at the build quality, and in the sun, the colour is really beautiful.

Back in a "regular car", but I guess that can be fixed if I slip into the Z8 [hihi]

I never thought I'd see you buy an E90 330i...[hihi] What about the rear lights they're red blinkers... [;)]

That color looks gorgeous on that car, I hope you enjoy her, congrats [thumb]

BTW, how is the ride quality compared to the M3? Couldn't you have used the X5 as the practical car?

Congrats on the kid on the way!!

My dad always said something to me when I would feel discourage: "Sacrifice is beautiful. It opens the door for the greatest feelings, and of course the worse."

He told me his Dad told him that when he sold his dream car (1979 Toyota Supra) when my brother was born. I don't know if that makes sense. think it does.

I must admit though, I LOVED it when you posted a message b/c I could get a peek at your M3. Really was a nice color.

Congrats on the new car too!

Sean

The 330i looks great too!

Yeah, the red blinkers do suck :) But the headlight assembly is bad ass, rocking hot!!! It's funny, because in the brochure, the car has the amber European blinkers. I still can't understand why BMW would change the blinkers for our market...we are used to and like Yellow/Amber Euro blinkers. I will say, that they are an extremely bright, vivid red. And, well...I can't see them when I am using them [:)]

The ride is AMAZING. I feel like I am floating over potholes and road imperfections. I'm sure it is even better in an E90 without Sports Pkg...but I had to have Sports Pkg. The rims and seats alone are worth it.

Congrats on the new car and child!!! The car looks beautiful!!

Kids do have a way of changing your priorities, but it is so worth it. I too had to sacrifice my toy car - sold my '86 Fiero GT (hehe, think what you want, it was still a cool 2 seat coupe!) to buy my Suburban. Talk about a change in handling and size!!

NOOO Adam!! Not the M3!! Man your M3 was awesome, now you got a car with a rear end straight out of a toyota. But priorities are priorities, very very nice E90, I dont see many 330i's with sports pack in NYC, just the plain 330i's. Those wheels really spice it up. Its a beauty none the less. Why not opt out for the idrive?

Oh my God, I hurt right now...such a beautiful car and I have no idea what I will go to next when my life changes. Do child seats fit in the back of a Ferrari?

Good luck with the new car and child!

I wish everybody a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Hey Matt,

I agree the rear end of the E90 is for sure it's weakest and ill designed part. I think BMW should have just stuck with an updated reverse L tradt'l. taillight assembly. I know myself, and lots of others hated the rear end of the new 5 Series when it debuted...and now I think it is hot, maybe the same will happen for the E90. From the profile, my E90 is almost a dead ringer for an E46, and I think the new front end looks really, really hot. Love the Angel eyes...but BMW has gotta bring the clear corners to the states.

Didn't get I-Drive because our 2 other cars have Navigation, and eventhough I-Drive is now more simplified, it still seems unnecessary and dangerous and I didn't want to shell out another 2k. I also like seeing my radio, and controls that are somewhat familiar. BTW, the Bluetooth hands free phone works even better in the E90, than the E46. A really awesome feature.
