I know several American PD's that buy BMW police cars. I have never heard of "American only". This was a whole truck load of them headed out and I believe they were still in Germany

Correct me if I’m wrong Big Daddy, but I believe the front “push bars” are used to help the stranded driver to safety or push a fleeing felon off the road. The rear ones are “normally” used when in front of someone and then you SLAM on the brakes.

BTW it’s probably Euro because of license plate dimensions.

That "Buy American" is just a volunteer thing but the City of Vail, Colorado has Saab 9-3s as there patrol cars but they’re leaning off it now because of pressure from the state.

It's a shame BMW spends more overall resources on their American products domestically then the "big three".

I noticed that! When I was in Vail over the summer, there were new 9-3 Sedans running around. I like it when the cops have good taste in automobiles. [hihi]

Correct. The push the fleeing felon is called a "pit" manuever. We have never had rear ones in the US that I know of, but the added protection would be a plus!
