WOW to walk away from something like that is simply amazing... BMW not only passes crash tests but their cars hold up to ultra-high speeds.... I bet Japanese cars hold up to 40mph crashes but 50-60 is where the tin can folds and you die....

amazing you'd live after over half the car's riped up! let alone come home the next day!

edit: i wonder how much of it was due to the accident and how much of it to jaw of life..

Actually the roof was somewhat crumpled, but the top half was cut off by the fire dept, as the M5 driver had to be removed from the car, if you check back to that website you'll see a picture of the roof. If a roof got ripped off like that, I don't think anyone over 5ft would survive.

Here:

Any idea why they place orange towels over the four roof-support stubs on the chasis?

Probably a couple of dumba$$es that were street racing. Pretty stupid I might add. And if this was not the case, one if not both, need to pay more attention. An X5 will not roll over from a minor traffic accident.

The web-site stated the M5 driver was a diplomat. The US needs to change the laws to state what is expected of said diplomats (especially their children) when here in the US. For one driving around like a maniac is not to be tolerated.
