Well, I finally cleaned the car up good enough to take some decent photos. These pictures were taken the week before the BMW CCA club drive (500 miles). The weather during the photo shoot was overcast with some partial sun breaks at times. The color (Topaz Blue Metallic) will change drastically with light and the lack thereof.

You will notice some photos the car looks darker and in others the paint looks lighter. You should see it in the bright sun or under florescent lights!!

They where taken outside of my house so sorry for not having a really great background. Someday I will take photos when the car is super clean, it's really sunny out, and in a fabulous location.

I spent about 3 hours cleaning her and I didn't even detail it. Hope you folks enjoy and leave a comment if you wish. I haven't really posted many photos of my car, but hope to post more in the near future....

I love this car!!.....

P.S. Tom you should sticky this thread... [;)] [hihi]

Thanks a lot guys, but to tell you the truth Tom I haven't painted my discs. I noticed the color once I copied the photos from my Digi cam mem card to the computer that they looked that way. To tell you the truth I wasn't even sure if anyone else would notice, but I should have known the people here one this board, well at least one [;)] would noticed the same thing. Very observant Tom, good job!

The color on the discs is el-natural. It must have been all the hard driving I did while going on the BMW CCA road trip. I was pretty hard on the brakes during that trip (500 miles and I could guess at least half was very hard mountain driving) and it could have turned the rotors that way. These photos are the first time I have noticed them that color and trust me I have many from almost the same spot. Then again, it could just be the lighting...... [thumb]

Scott he's giving you a hard time, the color is rust from washing your car. As soon as you use the brakes once it is gone. This happens to all rotors when you wash the car, but than again you knew that......

great mod isn't it? i was freakin out a bit after a recent rain storm, after realizing it for the first time, but now i'm used to it.

i just don't like how it makes your car look like it hasn't been taken care of, while the rest of your car looks shinny.. oh well.

I watched a guy at a concorse once who washed his car on site. After drying the car he rolled pulled the car forward with the brakes applied lightly just to scrape the rust off. My first thought was....what the heck is he trying to do? I than discovered rotor rust!

Great pictures! I usually get that rust crap on my rotors after using the wheel cleaner. It goes away after a few braking applications, but it makes my ABS kick in a little bit!

Seriously though, really nice pictures, it's really nice to see a Topaz Blue M3. [thumb]

Yes, I know about the breaks rusting after washing I was just commenting on Tom's post.. [hihi]

Thanks for all the great responses on the car. She is still looking good. I will post some more sometime in a better background setting....

you really dont' see much topaz blue around. well actually you really don't see many bimmers outside of the standard black and silver.. anyway, the topaz looks nice.

my church held some kinda car club thing today. lots of GM designers attend our church, so they used their clout to bring out their "high perf" rides, like the ion redline and GTO to name a couple. i actually got a chance to drive in the c6. (auto tho..) but its hard to deny the 405 horses under the bonnet! the car felt really really solid. interior sucked, but man the car's performance itself was worth the admission.

anyway, local bmw cca guys also showed up, and some members brought along their zcp, one in silver, and another in interlagos. (it looked purple tho.. Adam, can you comment on that?) they were NICE! sure looked better than the red S4 that came by later on. there was also a WRX sti and evo viii. (no digi cam still, so no pics.. sorry guys.) RX-7. i don't know if i can even say my car held its own.. it was the best looking sedan there tho ^^;;

Damn that's a nice looking car. I just love the M3s with the 18" inch alloys as opposed to the 19"s. I understand that the ride/handling compromise is more favourable too. Bloody nice car you lucky bastard! [hihi]

Hey Jason! Was the Interlagos you saw inside, under fluorescent lighting? Due to the amount of blue/purple in those lights...it can give a really!!!! strong purple hue to the colour.

If it was outside, and looked purple, the sun must not have been shining directly on it. When the sun is strong on Interlagos...it is the most amazing, hottest true metallic blue. In indirect sun, the colour picks up lots of interesting shades (errrr, purple [:(] . At first, I didn't like that...but now I think it is so hot that one colour can have so many colours.
