Hey, this is my first car! What do you think about the rims? They are 18s, I am thinking of selling them and putting on a set of 17 M3 Contours, is that a good idea?

Hey thanks. I don't know the brand, the previous owner put them on. Yeh it's still a little cold here. When it gets warmer gonna start fixing it up a bit, theres a little rust in places and a cracked tail light, but other than that the car is tight

The rims appear to be replicas of the Hamann PG2.

Definitely get that trunk rust fixed before it is too late. The water likes to run down the trunk seams and come out at the bottom corner of the trunk lid. I had an almost identical spot of rust (to the one on the left rear of your car) fixed on my old E36 when I first got it.

I'm not a fan of Hamann wheels.

Definitely get new wheels, but don't downgrade to 17s, that's just a sin. :)
Wait explain why 17's are a downgrade? They weigh less, so there is less rotating unsprung mass, tires are a bit cheaper with more sidewall, and the larger/heavier the wheel it will accelerate MUCH worse. Going from 18's to 17's would be almost like installing a lightweight flywheel depending on the car.

The 18s will not accelerate much worse, just a very little bit, and you get a handling advantage with the 18s. The small sidewall is stiffer allowing for better handling. It's not like he's would be going from 17s to 24s or vise versa.

They're definately Hamanns... do you know if there's any more Hamann parts on the car?

It looks like a fine car to me... quite a steal for 5K. Looks like Ottawa still has a bit of snow left... we haven't had any snow here in Toronto for a month now. [:)]

Great great car mate! Welcome to the club, and i know the feeling when you are able to make your first car a bimmer =). I agree that you should get the rust sorted from your car ASAP, I've also sent my car in to the bodyshop to fix up all the rust, I'm picking it up on sunday and absolutely cannot wait to get it back! The rims are nice, but i am more a fan of thinner spoke type rims!
