I bought my daughter a replacement for the old Volvo today (and my Autocross project car!!!) - '94 325i, 112K miles, great condition. I bought it from an independent service station that sells a few cars. I took it to the BMW dealer for a pre-purchase checkout and it got a relatively clean bill of health. It will need rear brakes later this year, no big deal, and the muffler lost a baffle, but is still a solid shell. It actually sounds NICE this way! As you can see, the interior is EXCELLENT, the body is good with road rash typical of a 10 year old car.

When I brought home tonight, she went mad!!! I had not said a word about it to her so it was a huge surprise. The '87 Volvo (almost 200K on it) is getting tired, stalling, etc. to the point that I wasn''t comfortable with a 16 y.o girl driving it. I took her out for about an hour to continue learning to drive stick. She has a little previous experience, but she's not ready for the open road yet.

I have always liked the E36, I always thought and now *really* think it's the sharpest 1990s sedan/coupe on the road.

Now I'm thinking about wheels, struts, tuning, etc. for Autocross. The cool part is that my daughter watched me run a few months ago, and she wants to compete too - the rules allow 2 drivers per car. It'll be a great way for her to learn performance/emergency handling and driving skills.

Congrats! Keep us updated on the progress of the project.

Wheels and suspension would really make that thing stand out.

I started running SCCA AutoCross this year with the 330. I'm having a great time, but I don't want to put too much wear on the 330, and it's an automatic which is a limitation. Wheels and tires will probably be first in a few months, then shocks/struts.
