I really like that. For some reason it looks small. It just seems to have a small car/economy car look to it, but I'm not sure what it is. Overall I think it is nice, and seems to be a logical evolution from the E46.

Oh, and the stripped down interior seen on bmwusa.com looks very crappy, but the one with all the option as seen in the videos looks very nice.

Actually BMW says it is larger than the current 3 series. It is on par with the current E39 5 series in size. It may look smaller, but really it is bigger with more passenger and trunk space. They say on the same lines as Audi A4 and C class MB....

"Compared to the outgoing model, more generous exterior dimensions ensure even greater spaciousness and comfort for all passengers. At 178.0 inches, the length increases by 1.9 inches. The width at 71.5 inches increases by 3.1. Vehicle height is 55.9 inches, an increase of 0.24. The wheelbase is 1.4 inches longer at 108.7."

I know that its physically bigger, it just LOOKS smaller. Maybe it's the styling or just the overal lines, I dont know. For some reason it just makes me think it's a small car.

Yes, just looking at the car it doesn't look as big as the current 5 series. I agree, from the pictures it does not look that big at all. They haven't shown a lot of pictures of the interior or trunk. This car will have to be judged in person IMO.....

without another car or object to get a sense of size, it's hard to tell.
the vid was cool, if not a bit repetitive feeling.. (horrible word connection)
i like it more now.. but what's up w/ the split kidney? aslo the front 1.4 view makes the car look like a hatch.. can't see the trunk at all. (at the end of the movie..

I like it, most importantly - NO BANGLE BUTT!

I don't know about the grille yet. Notice how it is actually split, the upper rim of each kidney is actually part of the hood?

"The new Starting Assistant feature is designed to prevent rollback when starting off on a grade without having to use the brake pedal or handbrake." And the brakes automatically dry themselves off when the wipers are being used.

That is cool.

While I agree with everyone that it looks much better than originally expected, I don't like the hood separation line above the kidneys rather than below them. Otherwise Ilike it!

So even if you don't get the navigation package, will you still get to have that center screen that displays iDrive options (I think...)??

Right now if you dont get navigation they just replace the screen with the cd player.

For this newer model, it looks there is a screen integrated right into the upper part of the dashboard.

Anyone care to enlighten me?

BTW, I see dual climate control now! [cheers]

No, look here:
http://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/futurevehicles/new3/images.htm

It's picture number 4. That is also the picture that I commented on the cheapish looking interior. The interior looks great in the videos, but I'm sure that's with all the options (whereas this one is stripped down).

Yeah, I agree. The screen definatly takes the whole feel of the interior up a notch, but it is good that iDrive is an option. It would be cool if the screen was standard on all of them, and if you didn't have iDrive it would be there just to look pretty and maybe have useful info like maintainence messages and display the volume and fan speed and things. It really wouldn't have a purpose other than to look nice, but something impressive like that is what could make the 3 series a step above the competition (afterall I think the Acura TL comes standard with Navi and its in the same price range).
