Alpina: B5 instead of M5

The successor of the the known B10 the new 5 series finetuned by Alpina will be called B5 and signifies Alpina´s return to the upper class.

The new one is fired by the 4.4 V8 already used in the B7. Thanks to the radial compressor the engine delivers 500 hp and 518 lb/ft. These figures catapult the more comfortable antipole to the new M5 in only 4.7 sec. From 0-60 mph. Top speed is reached at 197 mph. During the travel from 0-197 the six gears are automatically changed by switchtronic gearbox that will also be found in the station wagon version. The wagon takes 4.9 sec. For the dash and limits at 189 mph.

Appearance of both B5 versions are characterized by the known and traditional front and rear spoilers that, besides their recognition, also shall improve downforce. Wheel size is 8.5 and 9.5 inches wide and 19 inches big alpine alloy wheels. These rims take rubbers in dimensions of 245/40 in front and 275/35 on the rear axle. A completely new setup of the cars suspension will also differ this car from it´s stock borthers.

The interiour is dominated by the two coloured leather seats, lots of exotic woods, blue lighted instruments and an additional oil temp gauge. To own a B5 one needs to pull min. 89,900 Euro out of his/hers pocket, the station wagon starts at 92,900 Euro.

Purty...but I think a quad exhaust would have really set her off. Awsome numbers, pulling out of the V8 in HP numbers almost as much as the M5 V10.

Both of those cars are real beauties. I love the Alpina lip spoiler on the front and rear of the 5 sedan. They have some muscle too. The staggered wheels are massive. It's too bad the wagon is so slow...hehe [joke]

I hate the new dash clusters. The instrumentation is just shit compared with the outgoing BMWs.
I totally agree. New 7, 5 and sadly the upcoming new 3er has these ugly, flat cheap looking dash clusters. Why is BMW departing so much from the driver oriented and sporty instruments?

When I look at the new dash designs all I can think of is a mid 1980's Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera or Buick Park Avenue.

Long Live the E46!!!!

Ja...Genau gesagt. Leider hängt alles von Geld ab. Schamen Sie Sich deutsche BMW Bilanzbuchhalter [bash]
It's a shame their design is so influenced by those who buy the car and never ever look under the hood...not their history and what the "real" enthusiasts want.

Aber wollen wir denn nicht alle Geld verdienen? Da BMW auch mit diesem Design Kunden findenu nd binden wird haben die Designer aus kfm. Sicht alles richtig gemacht. Trotzdem ist es eine Tragödie...[xx(]

I don't like the two-tone leather interior (awful colors) and I think the car just looks like it's sitting too high or that front lip isn't aggressive enough. I dig the rest.

I kind of like the two toned leather in the car. I don't mind the color they chose too. I really like both automobiles....

I agree it probably wouldn't be for everyone, but the Alpina series have always been popular...

You could argue the #'s are BETTER than the M5's as there is a notable increase in torque out of this beauty.
