in 2009 porsche will introduce the "Panamera". A 4 door 4 seated GT. Just as the Mercedes CLS this coupe will have 4 doors but overall will be more of a coupe.

Engines available will be V8 and V10 with outpouts between 340-600 hp. As Porsches plans to have all of them AWD the power will also be transformed to acceleration with minimum loss.

Maximum loss to the buyers account will cause the 100000-150000 EURO price tag!

Looks kinda cool.......maybe someone can explain this for me. Why do some car companies deem it neccessary to make SUV's and 4 door family wagons. Porche is ruining its stigma of being the impractical 2 seater pure sports car. I know Lambo of past made the LM....very unsuccessful..they quit and they only make Sports Cars, Ferrarri has usually had (until recent) a 4 door in its line up and are bringing one back, but they are not making SUV's. Why does Porche have to ruin its sports car heritagename by making these abominations. Really kind of sad. It would be like BMW making a 1.4ltr 4 cylinder just to compete in the Opel Corsa and Cheap ass Golf arena.

regarding cayenne I truely agree with you. nbo doubt that the car is an absolute win for the company it is a "spiritual" loss...

in regards to the panamera i am not so sure. it is a well designed car with lots of power under the hood. it doesn´t fit the original and in my books only real credo of the company, but as a car it is a fine tune. i am still undecided whether to accept it or not.

but then, it might not have the engine in the trunk and with that comes automatically my dislike!!!! a porsche has to have that!

Why do they insist on calling it a copue? It is a sedan, but they want to try and keep the coupe feel. They also think they can fool you into believing it is still a 2dr coupe.

Damn it. I don't like the idea of Porsche becoming the new BMW with a whole fleet of cars. I don't want a "family" of Porsche cars. I just want Porsche SPORTS cars. Keep it pure and simple: 911s and Carrera GTs (and Boxtsers, I guess).....

it is because of the body line. i´d call it marketing. you have to admit that the body looks more like a coupe than a 4 door. when mercedes entered the market with their cls they created the slow death of this unique and well kept word.

Ok, I am being anal, you can't change the meaning of a word for the sake of advertising.

Coupe-A closed four-wheel carriage with two seats inside and one outside.
also coupe (kp) A closed two-door automobile. [thumb]

Sedan-A closed automobile having two or four doors and a front and rear seat. [wiggle]

Isn't that where the 1.6L 4-cylinder 1 series competes? It's supposed to be the rolls-royce of the tiny car arena, taking the MINI's crown...

between 1,4 and 1,6 is a world in power. but still, the 1 series is against opel astra, vw golf/jetta, and sort of cars.

i think, that it will be hard for bmw to succeed there. VW and Opel have their high output versions on the market and they were never as good as now. the last generation golf for example was meant to have one GTI, did actually, but that was a joke. this time they really put a heart in it and the new GTI kicks ass. BMW will have a hard time, or at least not an easy win, in this class. though with more power as and stock golf you can buy, the golf this time touches many many potential buyers.
