I could have gone with the long plates, but the park distance control would have been affected. Mostly the small plates are for the American cars because the place for the licence plates on US cars is smaller than German cars.

that's odd that the engineers wouldn't have thought about the park distance control clearing the long plates. then again out in europe, they may consider the "american sized plates" cool.. maybe?? ^^;;

Correct me if Im wrong but dont Germans park their cars very well. Not like us bastards here in the states which will cram a car into any opening that we can find. Over there, dont they respect each other's cars and always leave ample room between em? Or is that a mis conception I have?

That is a [joke] Right? Hell no Germans like most other europeans suck at parking. I have watched cars hit the cars in front and behind them to parralell (sp) park so that when they get into the spot, their bumpers are actually touching the cars in front and behind. Parking Garages are a nightmare....crazy ass tiny spots that some assholes park so their cars are dead center of the white line so they eat up two spots. I like to double park these idiots so they can't get out.[chair]

Haha.. I remember watching a Top Gear episode a while back. He was asking the celebrity guests what they thought about bumpers. One actress said "I always thought bumpers were there so that you can go bump, bump, bump, in... when parking"

Heh.
