Well guys, after much deliberation, alot of financial... issues, and after one year of prowling the forums with my "Soon to be E30 325" What i drive note, yesterday i finally closed a deal for a new car, which i will, hopefully, be picking up later today after sorting out insurance in a couple of hours.

If all goes well, she's a 1992 E36 318i. White with grey bumpers, cloth interior, she seemed to drive well, took her to my friend's uncle whos a mechanic. He approved of the thing, said the brakes need a bit of tweaking as does the wheel alignment. The exterior of the car is nearly perfect, theres very very few signs of rust (although there is a tad rust here and there in places that are hard to spot). What really sold me on this car was the condition of its interior. It had been a single owner car, lady driven, and the interior really feels like its been absolutely untouched. It has a full service history with 240k (kilometers) on it. The only thing that will require changing (immediately) are the headlamp covers, because they have become yellow, so ill grab fresh ones for it as soon as i pick up the car.

I absolutely cannot wait for this, because, having driven many cars before that didnt belong to me, this is the first car im going to be able to call my own, and i struggled quite hard in order to get the cash for it. It really is the perfect "back to school" present for me, and im looking forward to great great great times ahead with her!

Pics will come as soon as i pick her up and do a nice wash'n'wax job with her (ok that doesnt sound right) at my friends house. Can't wait to share it with you guys.

I have been waiting for this for too long LOL!

That's great Duff!! The process of saving your money and buying your own car is truly a great feeling. I am happy for you. You deserve it. I respect young people who work hard and have great focus to purchase the things they truly want. It makes it even more special.

Have a great time with her and post photos when you can. Enjoy!!.....

Congratulations!! I remember that feeling. It really is the best feeling in the world; especially know that it is yours and that you paid for it. Drive it safely! If it's a manual, I'm sure you'll have a ton of fun with the 4-banger. "Enjoy yourself! It's a celebration!"

Hey nice one. Once you drive a BMW for any length of time you are well and truly hooked. You simply cannot go back once you've sampled what motoring enjoyment is really about. That's the beauty of BMW!

Some pics would be good [thumb]

Ahh pics finally

Sorry this took so long guys, i couldnt find the cable that hooked up my camera to my pc. (Not a regular USB Cable, damn nikon). So heres the first lot of pics of the car. The big guy in white is me, the guy in the blue checks is my friend who owns the blue Mazda 3 in a few of the pics. The guy in the passenger seat of the night shot is another friend. Anyway, enjoy the pics, they are a tad big in size, apologies to the people on low bandwidth.

I need to sort out the headlights on the car, and thers a little bit of rust touch up that needs to be done, otherwise all seems to be in order. I have to look around and see where i can get clear platics for the headlamps, or im considering getting an angel eye set with clear indicators off the bat. Pricing is obviously the main issue here, so i might stick with just getting new plastic covers for now, and upgrading the actual light set later on. Interior is in really really good shape except for the driver side door inset which needs to be sorted out, i think its just a matter of unscrewing and rescrewing it back in, same with the door handle from the inside, its frame comes off, so i need to sort that out as well as stitch the upholstry around it so that it doesnt look ragged.

I'll take more pics of the interior if you guys wish, if thers any other pictures you guys want to see let me know and ill take those too. Also, um i was wondering what the little button on the right side of the steering wheel is (between the steering rack and the centre console) it looks like a window with a lightning bolt running through it (lol my best description) what does that button do? I havent had a chance to fiddle about with the car as yet because im just getting a mechanic to touch a few things up (the mechanic is one of my friends uncles, hes not working any metal or engine bits, just touching up on a few aesthetic things) but ill be getting her back on tuesday probably so i can play around with her.
