i have seen e30 318iS and 325iS(M-Tech kitted) here in Australia with factory M grille badges.....AFAIK since they had M-Tech suspension, they also got an M badge.

Also someone said about the M plant now making non-M cars...dont the make all the Individual cars now.

adrean8j, thanks for your post, I wish you were there to defend me when I started to get negative feedback about my Emblem. I can see the point with both sides...If i owned a real M3 or M5 i wouldnt want some joe putting it on his 3 series or whatever...but I think the M symbol looks better and I enjoy it, needless to say I have 2 on my car...Your car looks great by the way!

Heart is stock, and no "M" in the last x-ray, so I guess I will just go with the badged underwear and skip the shirt so no one will notice.
now that's what i call understatement!!!

how about some conrtact lenses shwoing ///M, i mean that would give you the sharp look....muaahaaa [hihi]

Well I guess this thread I started was a good one after all......
I still think Americans for the most part tend to think that BMW's shouldnt be modded to much unless done by someone like Dinan(an American company by the way) or AC Schnitzer...
As a counterpoint I would like to point out that in GERMANY (home of BMW by the way...) it is actually a pretty BIG movement to modify you BMW. Call it ricey, ugly, tasteless, or whatever, but bottom line is, they are GERMAN and they do it to their GERMAN cars. This includes affixing a "M" logo to a car with "M" parts added to it....Soooooo since I have just about everything I can get from Motorsport on my 5series, I should be able to buy my "M" logo and affix it to my trunk like I wanted to in the first place right?(for you nitpickers out there let me clarify: "M" logo without a number behind it) If I have a Remus exhaust I should be able to put a Remus sticker on my bumper right?(I wouldnt do that even though I do have a brand new Remus Romulus exhaust)...... enough of this. For the most part Germans do not even leave the vehicle badging on the car(at least not in the car clubs) they take of the numbers and leave the BMW symbol and the "M" symbol. You guys wanna see some real German BMW enthusiasts? go to www.bmw-syndikat.de......nuff said.

hey to each their own.... I can still think that the ///M on cars which are CLEARLY non ///M cars are posing ... right?

Who cares what others think... if you want to pose as something you are not for "looks"... because there really is no other reason for iT... go ahead!

My car wears many things that are in common with the M5... I personally would NEVER consider adding an ///M to the back of my car

Parts wearing the M logo.. because thaey are M products (steering wheel, pedals, wheels, etc) are fine... ///M on a vehicle that is not ///M is a travesty to the product line and should not be done... IMHO

I really have to disagree with your second sentance. Every American BMW owner I know has made some sort of modification to his/her BMW excluding Dinan and AC. My 318is has Zender Aerodynamics, Racing Dynamics Stress bars, JC Chip, and so on. My M roadster has many aftermarket products, Dinan and others, and even my 750iL has some aftermarket upgrades, but no Dinan.

And yes, I think we all know that Germany is the home of BMW! However remember that many are made here now, in good old South Carolina. You can put ten "M" logos on your trunk if you want, it's your trunk. And you may put a Remus sticker anywhere you want too, permission granted (personally I have had nothing but bad experiences with Remus = Ream us!)

As far as debadging I do not understand the reasons, maybe you could shed some light here? What does debadging accomplish?

And yes I love to see real German enthusists, however I also like to see real American enthusists, South American enthusists and Canadaian enthusists and so on.

European taste in this regard seems to run towards understatement. On the E28 M5, and I suspect most every other model, badge delete was an option in Europe.

There are plently of people who like to run a 'sleeper' or Q-ship type car. Nothing like getting blown away by an M5 badged as a 516.

I still harbor evil thoughts about a W124 Merc. wagon with a supercharged 350.
